Wildcats’ Simpson commits to Jamestown of ACHA

ELLIOT LAKE, Ont. – The Elliot Lake Wildcats of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League has announced that defenceman Ned Simpson has committed to attend school at the University of Jamestown in North Dakota and play for the Jimmies men’s program.

In three seasons in the NOJHL, the 21-year-old Kitchener, Ont., native appeared in 142 games scoring seven times and adding 34 assists for 41 points.

Along with the Wildcats, Simpson also saw time with the Rayside-Balfour Canadians, Cochrane Crunch along with the then Sudbury Nickel Barons and Elliot Lake Bobcats.

The Jamestown Jimmies are first-year members of the Division I American Collegiate Hockey Association where they will make debut Sept. 9-10 with a pair of road exhibition contests vs. the University of Manitoba.

Their first ACHA action goes Sept. 16-17 at home against North Dakota State.
