Wildcats fundraising efforts raise $5,000 for St. Joseph Hospital in Elliot Lake

ELLIOT LAKE — The Elliot Lake Wildcats of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League are very pleased to announce that through the efforts of the Wildcats Fundraising Committe and the whole Wildcats organization that The Pink in the Rink, Turn the City pink, and Pledge $1 for all goals in October has raised a tremendous amount of money for the Chemotherapy Department at the St. Joseph Hospital in Elliot Lake.

A presentation of $5,000 was made to the hospital Wednesday to signify the significant support shown to this worthy cause by the entire Wildcats organization, it’s fans and the community of Elliot Lake.

“We would like to thank each and everyone of you who purchased a pink light, who purchased a jersey at the auction, who pledged for the goals,” stated Wildcats President Howard Hennessey.

“Thanks also to Wildcats goaltender Aaron Mackay’s father who pledged for all the saves for October and to everyone who donated money at the games,” added Hennessey

“Just a HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU.”

The Wildcats have also donated $500 from proceeds raised at the bar at the Raise the Roof event, which was also donated to the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation for the Manor.

A special thank you goes to Dawn Rhiness-Eaket for the opportunity to work the bar at your great event.

The Elliot Lake Wildcats return to the ice Friday as they host the Iroquois Falls Eskis in an 8 p.m. start at Centennial Arena.
