NOJHL announces Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that a trio of forwards in Spencer MacLean (Elliot Lake Wildcats), Dustin Cordeiro (Cochrane Crunch) and Connor Thie (Kirkland Lake Gold Miners) have been named the Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the week for the period ending Nov. 2.

SPENCER MACLEAN, (F) ELLIOT LAKE WILDCATS – In his club’s lone outing this past week the 18-year-old MacLean, who hails from Kleinburg, Ont., doled out four assists helping Elliot Lake skate past visiting Sudbury on Friday night.

The Wildcats forward has been on a roll of late as he is currently riding a five-game point streak and has etched his name on the score sheet in 12 of his past 13 contests.

MacLean presently sits in the top 10 in the NOJHL in goals (10), assists (13) and points (23).

DUSTIN CORDEIRO, (F) COCHRANE CRUNCH – Continuing to produce offensively, Cordeiro added to his overall totals in his lone game during the week that was.

The 19-year-old from Kitchener, Ont., set a career single-game high in points with five helping Cochrane crunch Mattawa on Sunday.

Cordeiro tallied three times, for his seventh multi-goal contest of the season, and chipped in with two helpers in the romp over the Blackhawks.

He now leads all NOJHL shooters in goals with 22 and sits tied for second overall in points with teammate Cody Gratton at 31.

CONNOR THIE, (F) KIRKLAND LAKE GOLD MINERS – Since being acquired by Kirkland Lake at the beginning of October, the 19-year-old Thie has put up some impressive numbers early in his tenure with the club.

His latest outburst came Halloween night as he notched his first NOJHL hat trick and set-up one more marker as the Gold Miners powered past Powassan.

The Minnetonka, Minn., product has also recorded 14 points during an active five-game point streak by scoring six times and adding eight assists.

His 1.70 point-per-game average is second on the Kirkland Lake roster for a squad that leads the league in goals scored and has the fewest allowed at 101 and 38 respectively.
