Elliot Lake skates past Blind River

BLIND RIVER – The Elliot Lake Wildcats got plenty of offensive production Sunday to power past the Blind River Beavers 11-1 in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League contest held Sunday at the Blind River Community Centre.

Nathan Campbell’s first of the game, via the power play, with just four seconds remaining in the opening period got things going for the visitors.

The Wildcats built on that momentum and fired home four more markers before the 11-minute mark of the second to take control of the match-up.

Shane Woolsey and Campbell got goals 61 seconds apart before Spencer MacLean and Trayvon Henry added later efforts.

Jack Zanville got the Beavers on the board at 15:29 of the stanza as he struck shorthanded to make it 5-1 game after 40 minutes.

Elliot Lake then put the game away in the third getting a pair of tallies from Cole Hepler along with solo efforts courtesy of Adam Baxter and Connor Scott on the power play along with MacLean and Aaron Carmichael at even strength to complete the romp.

Hepler finished up with seven points in the one-sided decision with Baxter adding five of his own.

Allan Menary made 19 saves to pick up the win for the Wildcats.

Braddock Baalerud and Zachary Mills both saw time in net for Blind River in the setback facing a total of 49 shots.
