Elliot Lake edges Blind River 3-2

BLIND RIVER, Ont. – A Nathan Campbell goal early in the second period proved to be the difference maker as the Elliot Lake Wildcats edged the Blind River Beavers 3-2 Saturday evening in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League contest the Blind River Community Centre.

Special teams allowed Elliot Lake to get on the board first as Artur Terchiyev struck on the power play at 5:32.

Blind River countered 53 seconds later as Mark Khull buried his first NOJHL goal to level the proceedings at 1-1.

The Wildcats added another however thanks to Shane Woolsey at 13:37 as they took the lead to the intermission.

In the second, Campbell got the game-winner as 3:38 as he finished off a feed from Ismael Dumerlus.

It stayed 3-1 into the third period where Liam Sweeney brought the home side closer with 4:58 to go with Bryce Campbell picking up the assist on the play.

Blind River could not notch the equalizer to force overtime however before time expired.

Allan Menary made 27 saves to earn the win for Elliot Lake.

Maxwell Barr started for the Beavers and suffered the loss allowing three against on 23 attempts before giving way to Martin Miloslavich after the Wildcats third goal as he stopped all 19 attempts he faced in over 36 minutes of relief.
