Blind River upends Elliot Lake

BLIND RIVER, Ont. – A Steven Khull goal 4:11 into the third period was the game-winner as the Blind River Beavers upended the Elliot Lake Wildcats 3-2 Saturday in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up at the Blind River Community Centre.

Sean Paterson staked the hometown Beavers to the early lead as he picked up his 10th tally of the season 84 seconds into the contest.

Elliot Lake’s Connor Rider would tie it just past the eight-minute mark of the stanza, but Blind River came right back with a go ahead shorthanded goal from Mark Khull at 10:14.

The Wildcats drew level once again late in the first on Rider’s second of the period with 2:12 remaining.

It stayed 2-2 until the third when Steven Khull notched the difference maker in what would be the final tally of the evening.

Matt Blattenberger kicked out 37 of the 39 shots he faced to post the win for Blind River.

Al Rogers saw 34 attempts put his way in defeat for Elliot Lake.
