NOJHL announces its CCM Hockey players of the month for September

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Thursday its respective CCM Hockey player, defenceman, goaltender and rookie of the month for September.

CCM HOCKEY PLAYER OF THE MONTH – GREGORY TRUDEAU-PAQUET, (F) FRENCH RIVER RAPIDS: The opening month of the campaign was an impressive one for Trudeau-Paquet and he registered a league-high 17 points in 10 September contests.

The 18-year-old from Sudbury scored eight times, including a game-winner, and added nine assists during the time frame as he etched his name on the scoresheet eight times in those 10 outings.

He presently sits tied for the NOJHL scoring lead and is second in goals.

Honourable Mention: Max Khull, (F) Blind River Beavers; Dayton Murray, (D) Powassan Voodoos

CCM HOCKEY DEFENCEMAN OF THE MONTH – DAYTON MURRAY, (D) POWASSAN VOODOOS: Murray has been an offensive force for Powassan while also bolstering the Voodoos’ defensive corps for the defending NOJHL champions.

September saw the 20-year-old from Spruce Grove, Alta., produce 13 points for his side, including eight goals in that span.

Murray currently leads all league defencemen in both tallies and points with nine and 14 respectively.

His seven power play markers top all skaters in the NOJHL and he’s tied for third in overall offensive production.

CCM HOCKEY GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH – ARTEM BORTOVSKIY, (G) HEARST LUMBERJACKS: Bortovskiy was solid last month helping Hearst make their NOJHL debut.

In five starts during the month that was, the soon-to-be 20-year-old netminder from Richmond Hill, Ont., had a 4-1-0-0 record while allowing only six goals against and posting a league-best two shutouts.

Bortovskiy’s efforts see him lead all NOJHL goaltenders in goals-against average (1.20) and save percentage (.960).

His shutout numbers were the first two in his tenure in the league.

CCM HOCKEY ROOKIE OF THE MONTH – OWEN ROBINSON, (F) BLIND RIVER BEAVERS: Making his mark early in his time in the NOJHL has been Blind River’s Robinson.

The 17-year-old forward from Orangeville, Ont., suited up in nine games for the Beavers last month and picked up points in each of them as he tallied six times and helped set-up seven others in the process.

In all Robinson is riding a solid 10-game point streak and shares third spot in league scoring with 14 points.
